This is a fix for users that are not able to print and get an error about “Raster Mode”.  The problem is that you’re computer has updated to Mac OS X 10.6.7 which does not work correctly with the current Canon printer drivers.  Until UFR II v.2.4 is released from canon this is the best work around.

Work Around Steps:

1. Click “Print” under the “File” menu of the program you last used.
2. On the Print box that popped up, choose “Quality” from the drop down menu.
   1. There may be more than one drop down menu, it’s usually below “Presets” drop down menu
3. Click “Quality Settings…”
4. Choose “Raster Mode”
5. Click “OK”
6. Next you will save this setting for future use:
   1. Click the drop down menu “Presets”
   2. Choose “Save As…”
   3. Give it a name you’ll notice like “Use this Setting!”
   4. Click “Ok”
7. You should be good for printing!

If you get the error after making this change make sure the Preset menu is set to the one you saved in step 6.

If Safari 2 or older is installed on the iBook, run “Software Update” which is found under the Apple logo at the top left corner of the screen.  Software updates may be needed before you can install Safari 3 or 4.  Just keep updating the software until it shows up.

To choose that theme, log into your school website account and choose “Themes” under the “Appearance” menu on the left.

Steps to installing the driver:

Delete current printer:

1. Open System Preferences (found under the apple at the top left corner of your screen) and click on “Print & Fax” panel in the Hardware section.
2. Select the “Print & Fax” panel under Hardware.
3. Delete your current canon printer by selecting it and clicking on the minus button.
   

Install Driver:

Unzip the downloaded file and open the installer.You will need to enter your computer password to install this software.  Send Matt an email if you can’t remember your password is.

Add Printer:

Open System Preferences and click on “Print & Fax” panel in the Hardware section.

1. Click on the + symbol under the list of printers on the left.
2. Make sure IP is selected at the top and choose the protocol “Line Printer Daemon – LPD”
3. Enter the following addresses depending on the printer you want to setup:
   1. Coon Rapids – Main Office – 10.0.1.250
   2. Coon Rapids – Mop Closet – 10.0.1.109
   3. Burnsville – Central Office – 10.0.1.207
   4. Burnsville – Alliance Office – 10.0.1.206
   1. Change the “Name” to something descriptive such as “Main Office Printer”
   2. Under “Print Using” change the drop down menu to “Select a driver to use” and type in 3225 (you might have to do this twice).  Click on “Canon iR3225 UFR II (US).
   1. On the print screen you will probably need to change the “Printer” drop-down menu to the one you just created.

Test Print:

• Pick a one page document to test printing.
