About Sobriety High School

History

Sobriety High was established in 1989 as a nonprofit alternative school located in Edina, Minnesota. Converted to a charter school in 2003, Sobriety High Charter School now has locations in Burnsville and Coon Rapids. Sobriety High Charter School is a member of the Association of Recovery Schools and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

As a charter school, Sobriety High is open to all students free of charge and receives funding from the state of Minnesota, foundations, corporations, and individuals.

Sobriety High Charter School believes in:

  • Preparing youth for adulthood:
    Sobriety High prepares youth for the adult world through personal skill development and immersion in a culture of self-governance and empowerment
  • Making sure all youth feel they belong:
    Positive relationships with staff and other students create a welcome environment for all youth from every background
  • Using a whole student approach:
    Recovery staff and academic teachers work together as a team to ensure students receive the support and structure needed for academic and personal success
